Santa made an appearance at the St. Clement’s Island Museum open house
The Museum Division of the St. Mary’s County Department of Recreation and Parks held open houses this past weekend at the St. Clements Island and Piney Point Lighthouse museums.
On Saturday the St. Clements Island Museum in Colton’s Point, overlooking the site of Maryland’s founding, featured the 29th Annual Christmas Doll and Train Exhibit called Christmas on the Bay. The open house also featured Santa and Mrs. Claus, the Maryland Sound Barbershop Chorus and re-enactor Mike Barbour portraying 17th century historical character Thomas Gerard.
On Sunday the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum featured exhibits in the museum itself, the Potomac Maritime Building and the lighthouse keep’s quarters. The exhibit offered a military theme with authentic items from various war eras.
The museum shops at the two museums offer unique gift ideas for the holiday season.
Exhibits at both museums are open now through December 19, Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The extended holiday schedule includes December 20 to January 4, daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. but closed Christmas Eve and day and New Year’s Day.
