Dems start Election Integrity Working Group
To the Editor: Sunday, April 28 marked one year until Maryland voters will head to the polls to cast their vote for a President of the United States. I don't have to tell you that this is one of the most important elections of our lifetimes. And I'm sure I don't have to tell you the importance of making sure that all of our friends, families, neighbors, and co-workers get to the polls and make sure that their votes are actually counted! But before we head any further toward that day, the Maryland Democratic Party has taken a stand by creating an Election Integrity Working Group tasked with examining the issues and making recommendations to Democratic legislators in the Maryland General Assembly prior to the 2020 elections. If you agree, please add your name to our list of supporters. With foreign and domestic actors working to undermine our democracy, Maryland has to be hyper-vigilant about protecting our electoral system. Recent issues and challenges include: Misleading “official ballots” Unreasonably long lines Voter registration errors at the Motor Vehicle Administration Voter suppression Ballot shortages The specter of Russian influence Based on the 2016 election, we know extra precautions must be taken to protect the ballot box. Add your name if you agree! Maya Rockeymoore Cummings Chair, Maryland Democratic Party
