VIDEO: Southern Maryland Bids Farewell To Chief Michael Cahall

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. -- Today, December 3, the Southern Maryland community laid to rest one of its finest members.

Michael Cahall, a Chief at the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, recently passed away while out of the country. His unfortunate passing was met with substantial sorrow and grief across the community.

However, this misfortune was felt most heavily by his family, and the first responders who served alongside him. That includes his husband, Shawn Davidson, a St. Mary's County EMS Chief.

"Chief Michael Cahall was an integral part of our community and will be missed dearly. There are no words to express our sorrow, but we look forward to sharing in a few moments of appreciation for a joyful life gone too soon," the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad(LPVRS) said in a social media post after hearing the news. Those moments of reflection for the appreciation for Cahall's life came this afternoon.

A ceremony was hosted by Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, which was followed by a procession to the Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown for the committal and burial.

"We are very grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our community and our neighbors at BDVFD," LPVRS continued. "Mike Cahall was a shining light among us all and we are all better for having known him."

TheBayNet.com would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Shawn, the rest of Michael's family, his friends, and anyone who had their lives impacted by him.

May he rest in peace.
