Court dates set for burglary suspects in Charles

La Plata, MD - With the advent of the New Year just a few days away, most of the criminal docket at Charles County Circuit Court will take place after the first of the year, but there were a few arraignments before Judge James H. West Monday, Dec. 29.

John Thomas Connell Jr, 34 of King George, Va., was told by West that he will face a jury trial May 19, 2015 on charges including Third-Degree Burglary and Second-Degree Assault.

David Eugene Gray, 41 of Mechanicsville, will be in court for motions April 17 and a jury trial June 1 and is facing two counts including theft of copper and brass from Ferguson Enterprises on Demarr Road, White Plains in July and August.

William David Harper, 24 of Waldorf, is facing four charges including first-degree burglary, theft of less than $1,000, conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit theft. The first two charges carry sentences of 25 years each.

Motions in the case will be heard Feb. 6 before the jury trial April 27.

Tied to Harper’s case was that of Jordan Alexander Kelley, 25 of Waldorf, who is charged with equal counts of first-degree burglary and theft of less than $1,000, conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit theft. Motions for Kelley will take place Feb. 6 with a jury trial set for April 27.

Keith Phillip Tucker, 42 of White Plains, will face five counts from a Sept. 13 theft including first-degree burglary , theft of property more than $1,000 less than $10,000, destruction of property, consiracy to commit third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit theft. The case is set for status Jan. 5.

Linked to that case are Robert Mitchell Simpson, 18, who will be back before the court for motions March 12 before his criminal jury trial May 18; and Delaina Kyle Sweet, 26 of White Plains, set for motions and jury trial March 12 and May 18 respectively.

Newly elected Charles County Circuit Court Judge Thomas R. Simpson was on the bench with West for the day’s docket.
