On Thursday, Dec. 3, deputies were in are area of Pegg Road in Lexington Park assisting the Maryland State Police with a hit and run accident. Deputy M. Campbell came across a suspicious vehicle, in the area of Pegg Road and West Westberry, which was unrelated to the accident.

As Deputy Campbell was speaking with the driver of the vehicle and attempting to verify his and the passenger’s identification, the passenger, later identified as Cedric Sinclair Williams, 23 of Lexington Park abruptly jumped from the passenger’s seat and ran from the vehicle.

Corporal Timothy Butler stopped Williams a short distance from the vehicle. A computer check of Williams revealed he was wanted in Charles County for failing to appear in court on driving while suspended and attempting to drive a motor vehicle without a driver’s license charges.

Williams was arrested by Deputy Campbell for the open warrant and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
