Calvert County Sheriff's Office Weekly Crime Blotter

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - During the week of November 15 – November 21, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,330 calls for service throughout the community.

Burglary: 21-65004
On November 17, 2021, Deputy Sturdivant responded to the 12500 block of Vanous Road in Dunkirk, MD for the report of a burglary that had already occurred. Contact was made with the complainant who advised two unknown white males entered the residence through an unlocked rear sliding glass door. The suspects were confronted by the homeowner and fled the residence. Suspect #1 is described as a heavy set, white male approximately 5’8”- 5’11” inches tall with blonde hair. Suspect #2 is described as a white male with a stocky build, approximately 6’ - 6’2” tall. Both males were between 20 and 30 years old, wearing surgical masks. The suspects were seen entering a gray older model passenger vehicle. Nothing was reported stolen.

Damaged Property: 21-65060
On November 18, 2021 DFC Mitchell responded to Circle B Farms located at 11060 Mill Bridge Road in Lusby, MD in reference to destruction of property.  The complainant advised unknown suspect(s) damaged a wooden post at the entrance of the farm, stole a metal sign and left a damaged solar powered light fixture laying in the grass. The value of damaged property is unknown at this time.

Destruction of Property: 21-65443

On November 20, 2021, Deputy Murphy responded to the 4100 block of Chesapeake Ave in Chesapeake Beach, MD for report of destruction of property. The complainant advised unknown suspects poured gasoline into the interior of his vehicle and scattered clothing throughout. The approximate value of damaged property is $200.00.

Theft: 21-64545

On November 15, 2021, Deputy Aley received report of a theft. The complainant advised he was parked at the Walmart located at 150 N Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick, MD and after returning to his vehicle, discovered one of his handicap placards was stolen from inside the vehicle. The estimated value of stolen property is unknown at this time.

Theft: 21-64509
On November 15, 2021, Deputy Aley received report of a theft from a vehicle. The complainant advised sometime between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Nov. 14, unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked vehicle parked at 10726 Southern Maryland Blvd in Dunkirk, MD and stole a black tote bag containing her wallet, MD Driver’s License, a passport, and a couple of gift cards. The estimated value of stolen property is $200.00.

Theft: 21-64951

On November 17, 2021, Deputy Huy responded to the 500 block of Keith Lane in Owings, MD for report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant advised his 2014 Silver Chrysler Town and Country Minivan was last seen on Nov. 16 and was now missing. The value of stolen property is $500.00.

Theft: 21-65477
On November 20, 2021, Deputy Aley responded to the 4400 block of Virginia Avenue in Prince Frederick, MD for report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 9:07 a.m. on Nov. 20, unknown suspect(s) stole his black CountyLine 30 Ton Log Splitter from his front yard. The estimated value of stolen property is $2,000.00.


ARRESTS:

Gary Leon Mitchell, 42

On November 21, 2021 Deputy Freeland responded to the Solomons Fastop, located at 13888 HG Trueman Road in Solomons, MD for a reported disorderly subject. Deputy Freeland observed a male subject slumped in the driver’s seat with an open beer bottle to which he offered the Deputy. Additional police units arrived on scene and observed a machete and hatchet inside the vehicle. The operator, Gary Leon Mitchell, 42 of Washington D.C., was detained while a search of the vehicle was conducted. While in police custody, Mitchell was shouting profanities and causing a disturbance in a public setting, Mitchell was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Concealing a Deadly Weapon and Disorderly Conduct.


Khalil Tyron Price, 38

On November 21, 2021, Deputy Murphy was dispatched to report of a stolen U-Haul entering the county via Southern Maryland Blvd. in Dunkirk, MD.

A traffic stop was initiated and a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a container with suspected marijuana, two burnt ‘joints’ of suspected marijuana, a baggie contained suspected cocaine, a cut straw, a folded one-dollar bill and a hallowed out pen, all containing a white powdery residue (suspected cocaine) and $277.00 in US Currency.

The operator, Khalil Tyron Price, 38 of Washington D.C. was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Theft: $25,000 under $100,000, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance- Not Marijuana, and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.


Frederick Lee Jones III, 41

On November 20, 2021, DFC Holt responded to the 8100 block of Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach, MD for the report of a vehicle theft in progress.

The victim stated his vehicle, a white 2012 Ford box truck was parked at Traders Restaurant when an unknown male suspect entered the vehicle and fled the area.

DFC Holt was able to locate the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Plum Point Road and Lady Annes Way in Huntingtown. The suspect, Frederick Lee Jones III, 41 of Chesapeake Beach, MD had an active warrant through the state of Virginia for vehicle theft.

Jones was apprehended and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle/Motor Vehicle Theft and Malicious Destruction of Property Value $1000+.


Anthony Steven Reyes, 26

On November 21, 2021, Deputy Dymond attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling at speeds in excess of 80 MPH and passing other vehicles on a double yellow line.

The violator failed to stop for marked deputies with emergency equipment activated. Deputies pursued the vehicle north on Route 4 just south of Wayson’s Corner in Anne Arundel County, where the suspect vehicle finally came to rest.

A search of the vehicle revealed two loose bags of Marijuana (totaling 80 grams), a Marijuana cigarette, a Ziploc bag containing suspected cocaine (9.4 grams), a digital scale, a pair of brass knuckles and a collapsible knife. The driver identified as Anthony Steven Reyes, 26 of Germantown, MD was apprehended wearing a ballistic vest.

Reyes was arrested and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute, Wearing Bulletproof Armor, Obstructing and Hindering Arrest and Resisting/Interfering with Arrest.
