MORGANZA, Md. – Principal Marc Pirner, of Chopticon High School in Morganza, warned parents of students about a potential COVID exposure.  

In a letter sent to parents and guardians, the principal said students may have been exposed to COVID on October 29, 2020, by contact with a student who has since tested positive for the virus.

The school is following St. Mary’s County Public Schools COVID safety guidelines and contacting families. The letter said that parents would be notified if their child had close contact with the COVID-positive student. 

Parents were asked to monitor their child for COVID symptoms including:

  • fever
  • new cough
  • new loss of taste or smell
  • shortness of breath
  • difficulty breathing.
  • chills
  • fatigue
  • muscle aches
  • headache
  • sore throat
  • new congestion or runny nose
  • nausea or vomiting
  • diarrhea
