Three dead in murder-suicide in Spotsylvania Va.

Spotsylvania Va. - Investigators believe three people died in a murder-suicide in Spotsylvania on Saturday Nov. 25, according to a Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies were called to the home in the 7900 block of Waterford Drive around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when a neighbor reported the homeowner’s dog was running around the neighborhood and the door of the home was found ajar.

Deputies made several attempts to call out to the occupants of the home until they noticed a person was slumped over in a chair inside the home.
Meghan Scully, 38, was found dead from a gunshot wound. Deputies checking the house found Scully’s parents, 68-year-old Mary Scully and 69-year-old Robert Scully, also dead from gunshot wounds.

Detectives were still investigating the nature of the shootings. While suggesting the deaths were a result of murder-suicide, the apparent shooter and the two victims weren't identified in the release. The weapon believed to be involved was found at the scene.
