Keep the turkey off your plate! Recipes for a vegetarian Thanksgiving

Hollywood, MD—Meat-free lifestyles are becoming much more common among our friends, family, and neighbors. Around eight million people in the United States follow a plant-based diet, a little under half of that number are vegans while the rest are vegetarians. Veganism is a diet that doesn’t use any animal-based products, while vegetarians do not consume meat but can have dairy and eggs. For some, skipping animal-based products is done so for health reasons. For others, this lifestyle falls on their morals. Whether you choose not to eat meat for the well-being of the planet, the ethical dilemma of animals’ treatment, or to lower your risk of disease, plant-based diets have shown to be beneficial in numerous ways.

One staple of Thanksgiving that’s undeniable is a traditional turkey dinner. Of course, following a plant-based diet wouldn’t allow for a vegan or vegetarian to partake in this meal. But don’t lose hope, herbivores, for there are countless recipes to make your Thanksgiving dinner cruelty-free and delicious! Listed below are several examples of some tasty dishes, of both vegetarian and vegan varieties. Click on the name of each dish to follow a link showing ingredients and instructions for preparation!
