Restaurant booking for the holidays

Solomons, MD – The Christmas Holiday season means party planning. Several area restaurants focus their efforts on accommodating businesses and groups seeking an ideal venue for celebrating the Yuletide season.

In Solomons, one restaurant, Kingfishers Seafood, Bar and Grill, recently held an open house in hopes of getting holiday parties booked ahead of the anticipated rush. “We get very busy so we’re always trying to book,” said assistant general manager Joey Roberson, who added the restaurant is usually booked every day, Thursday through Sunday during the holidays.

The restaurant on Solomons Island Road South has three spaces for events—The Crow’s Nest, which is its upstairs dining room; The Captain’s Quarters, which is also known as “The Back Room;” and the main dining room. The Crow’s Nest seats as many as 60 people and provides diners a terrific view of Solomons Harbor. The Captain’s Quarters also seats 60. The main dining room seats a maximum of 120. Use of the main dining room for events is determined by the day of the week, season and time.

Roberson said the restaurant’s banquet package includes the options for a buffet or plated meal from the menu. Buffet selections include Stoney’s Original Crab Cake, Mediterranean chicken, barbecued salmon, shrimp jambalaya and a carving station for sirloin, top round, pork, turkey or ham.

If you book space at Kingfisher’s, Roberson stated you may book your own entertainment and organizers “are free to set and decorate as they like.”
