Santa loves kids and firehouses

There will be many opportunities over the weekends before Christmas for the children of Southern Maryland to meet with Santa. Many of those venues will be the fire departments and rescue squads in the area. This past weekend the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department (BDVFD) in Lexington Park and the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) held events.

The “Winter Wonderland” event at BDVFD featured Santa arriving by fire truck and lighting the big tree in front of the firehouse. Inside Santa met with the kids while there were a number of activities, including a moon bounce, face painting and Magic Man Reggie Rice.

The “Holiday Bazaar” at the Mechanicsville fire house filled the social hall and the engine bay with numerous vendors offering creative gift ideas. In one corner of the social hall, Santa held court, with willing and some not so willing kids sitting on his lap.

The Mechanicsville event was hosted by the MVFD Ladies Auxiliary.
