Nancy Brown Gordon

Nancy Brown Gordon, 67 of Leonardtown, MD went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2002 at the George Washington Medical Center, Washington, DC as a result of complications from by-pass surgery. Nancy was born to the late James Howard and Helen Beers Brown on June 27, 1935 in Oneonta, NY. She attended elementary school in Unadilla, NY. In 1947 her family moved to King Settlement, outside Norwich. Nancy attended Norwich High School, graduating in 1953. She completed the requirements for practical nursing before marrying Neil Gordon on Dec. 18, 1954. Her married life took her to Leonardtown, MD where her husband worked at the NAS Patuxent Naval Base. In addition to raising her children, Leo and Holly, she worked part-time in the schools as a substitute nurse. She taught Sunday School for many years despite her growing blindness from diabetes. She loved working in her garden, often submitting vegetables and flowers for competition at the county fair. In addition to her husband she is survived by, her son Leo Howard Gordon, his wife Joelle and their children, Travis and Carly of Pineville, LA and her daughter, Holly Gay Gordon Ollom and her husband, Jeff Ollom and their daughter, Felicia of Great Mills, MD. Her brothers, Jim Brown of Chatham, MA and Tim Brown of Norwich, NY and her sisters, Louanna Watt of Seattle, WA, Clara Cox of St. Paul, MN and Sylvia Adam of Atlanta, GA, additionally survive her. She is preceded in death by her older sister, Carolyn Prouty. Her aunt, Lu Beers of Oneonta, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews also survive her. A memorial service in her memory will be held on January 4, 2003 at Saysf Bible Church, 16544 Rue Purchase Road, Lexington Park, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Maryland Area Office, 3120 Timanus Lane, Suite 106, Baltimore, MD 21244-2883 or the charity of your choice.
