Louis Columbus Cargill, 81, of Compton, MD, died on August 31, 2002 at St. Mary?s Hospital. Born June 28, 1921 in Bryantown, MD, he was the son of the late Louis Henry and Margaret Elizabeth Lucas Cargill. Mr. Cargill served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946; he worked as a mechanic for Hugh C. Gardiner, Inc. in Faulkner for 23 ½ years. Mr. Cargill is survived by his wife of 37 years Margaret C. Cargill of Compton, MD., a son, Lewis ?Jerry? Cargill of Compton, MD, a daughter, Margaret ?Beth? Reese of Great Mills, MD, a step-daughter Gail E. Cook of Baltimore, MD, one dear daughter-in-law, Fran Cargill of Golden Beach, MD, two sisters, Anna Long of Leonardtown, MD, Lucille Hill of Waldorf, MD, two brothers, Joe Cargill of Mechanicsville, MD, Francis Gargill of LaPlata, MD and six grandchildren. Mr. Gargill was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Alvey, Helen Alvey and one brother George Cargill. Friends may call on Friday, September 6, 2002 at 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 am in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland at 2:00 pm. The Reverend John Mattingly of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Leonardtown, MD will be the celebrant.
