Justin Robert ?Mango? Mangum of Mechanicsville, MD, while responding as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT/B to a call for aid, died of injuries he sustained in a separate automobile accident on Monday, December 16, 2002 in Mechanicsville, MD. He was 20 years old. Born August 7, 1982 in Clinton, Maryland to Frances Charline Tippett and Raymond Walter Mangum. Justin, a technician for Auto-Matic Rain Lawn Sprinkler, was an active member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, the Charles County Medic Unit, St. Mary?s ALS Unit. He was currently enrolled in a Paramedic class. His hobbies and interests included the Fire Department and Rescue Squad, coaching cheerleading, spending time with family, his truck and his ?68 Camaro. Justin also served as DJ Fire Storm at local dances and social events. In addition to his parents, Justin is survived by his brothers Jeriame Leigh and Anthony Ray Mangum; sister Amanda Lyne Mangum; best friend David Rudy Harrigan; uncles Lawrence Tippett, Doug Guy, Melvin Kidwell, James Garner, Lonnie Walker, Todd Raffo and Harvey Harding; aunts Rose Marie Brady, Linda Garner, Bonnie Tippett, Jane Angelia Raffo, Mary Ann Tippett and Carol Harding; many cousins, great aunts, great uncles, other relatives and friends. Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents Benjamin C. & Geneva Tippett, Walter & Grace Mangum; uncle Benjamin C. Tippett, Jr. Family to receive friends on Thursday, December 19, 2002 from 2-4 & 6-8PM with Fireman?s Prayers at 8PM at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department 28165 Hill?s Club Road Mechanicsville, MD where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2002 at 10AM with the Reverend Aloyisus Newman, Chaplain for Fire and EMS to officiate. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, Maryland. Pallbearers include Jeriame Mangum, David Harrigan, Casey Sheckels, Jeremy Sheckels, Neal Slater, Tom Clark, Lawrence Tippett and Lonnie Walker. As Justin died in the line of duty, the services and interment for him will be with Full Fire Department & EMS Honors.
