Henrietta Veronica Woodland, 87, of Mechanicsville, MD, died on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at her residence. She was born on August 21, 1915 in Laurel Grove, MD, the daughter of the late Frank and Sarah Countiss Thomas. Mrs. Woodland was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Morganza, MD and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening and sewing. She is survived by her children, Shirley Bond, of Leonardtown, MD, Lillian Stevens, of Oakville, MD, Mildred Stevenson and Margaret Genevieve Stevens both of Washington, DC, Zelma Thompson of Pomfret, MD, Xavier Woodland of Queens, NY and James F. Woodland of Oakville, MD, two sisters Elizabeth Harris, of Newark, NJ and Marie Baker, of Mechanicsville, MD, 31 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Her husband James Howard Woodland preceded her in death on June 29, 1999 whom she married at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church on March 25, 1935. Friends may call on Thursday, January 2, 2003 from 9:30 to 10:45 am, at the St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Reverend Neal Ward as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary?s, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD.
