George A. Young, 82, of Morganza, MD died on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at the Bayside Care Center, Lexington Park, MD. He was born on October 20, 1920 in Morganza, MD the son of Francis Edward and Mary Louise Shurkliff Young. Mr. Young served his country in the United States Army from November 6, 1942 until December 2, 1945. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Ribbon. After separation from the Army he worked construction in St. Mary?s County for several years. He then moved to Washington, DC where he worked as a custodian for Howard University until his retirement. Mr. young moved back to St. Mary?s County where he remained until his death. He was a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church. Morganza, MD. A son George A. Young and his wife Jacqueline D., six sisters, Eva Langston of Washington, DC, Patricia Scriber, of California, MD, Mabel Young, of Baltimore, MD Mary M. Young, Philadelphia, PA, Frances Murdock, of Washington, Dc and Sarah Milburn, of VA, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive him. Three brothers, Bernard, Edward and William Young, preceded him in death. Friends may call on Friday, January 17, 2003 from 9:30 until 10:45 am at the St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at S. Joseph?s Catholic Church. The Reverend Neal Ward will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.
