St. Mary's Women's Soccer has Four Players Garner All-CAC Accolades

The St. Mary's College women's soccer team had four players named to the All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) teams as announced by the conference office. Carolyn Amirpashaie and Katie Klotz were selected to the first team, while Sarah Grady and Megan Schmidt were honored as second team selections.

Amirpashaie, a junior midfielder from Woodbridge, Virginia, played in all 16 contests for the Seahawks this season while making 15 starts. She led the team in goals (11), assists (5), total points (27), and game-winning goals (4). She finished tied for second in the conference in game-winning goals; third in goals per game and points per game; tied for fourth in total points and goals; ninth in assists per game; and tied for tenth in assists.

Klotz, a freshman defender from Bowie, Maryland, also played in all 16 matches this season with 13 starts. She scored one goal from her defender's position. Klotz was a central figure in a defense that allowed just 24 goals against on 145 total shots.

Grady, a freshman forward from Ellicott City, Maryland, played in 15 matches with ten starts for the Seahawks this season. She finished third on the team in goals (5) and total points (11), and also recorded one game-winning goal on the season.

Schmidt, a senior from Hollywood, Maryland, started 14 matches while playing in all 16 for the Seahawks. Schmidt finished second on the team in goals (6) and total points (15). This is Schmidt's third year of receiving All-CAC honors as she was also a second team selection in both 2004 and 2002. 

The Seahawks finished their season with an overall record of 9-6-1. The team lost to Catholic University in the semifinal round of the CAC tournament by a 2-0 score.
