At 1:48 am, on Wednesday, Nov. 9, TFC T. Quade observed a vehicle that failed to dim its high beams within 500 feet of an approaching vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped southbound Maryland Route 235 at First Colony Blvd, California. On contact with the driver, who identified himself as Jeffrey Neil Shad, 21, of Hollywood, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. The vehicle was occupied by three subjects:  Matthew Jared Milburn, 18, of Hollywood; Brandon Darnell Bowman, 20, of Great Mills; George Thomas Young, 20, of Callaway. All four admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that evening, however, they all stated that there were no drugs in the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. A zip-lock bag was located under the driver’s seat that contained suspected marijuana and another that contained cocaine. All four subjects were arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana.

A Miles/NCIC check showed that Young had an outstanding warrant from Maryland State Police for Theft under $500. Young was served with that warrant. All subjects were taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, processed and held pending a bail review.
