Office on Aging to Host 2020 Census Presentations at Calvert County Senior Centers

Prince Frederick, MD – As the 2020 Census approaches, older adults may find themselves with questions, concerns or the curiosity to know more about the decennial population count. The Calvert County Office on Aging will host a presentation by U.S. Census Bureau Partnership Specialist Lee Osberry Jr. to discuss the 2020 Census and answer questions older citizens may have about the census, including privacy concerns, how to complete census forms, how census data is used, why participation matters and more.

The presentation will be given at each of the three senior centers on the following dates and times:

• Calvert Pines Senior Center (450 W. Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick)
Tuesday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.

• North Beach Senior Center (9010 Chesapeake Ave., North Beach)
Thursday, Oct. 17, 11 a.m.

• Southern Pines Senior Center (20 Appeal Lane, Lusby)
Friday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m.

The U.S. Constitution mandates that a census of the population be conducted once every 10 years. Census data is used to reapportion congressional representation among the states and determine how billions in federal funds are distributed to states and local communities every year for services and infrastructure, including health care, jobs, schools, roads and businesses.

Operating under the Calvert County Department of Community Resources, the Calvert County Office on Aging provides a broad range of programs and services that enable senior citizens to maintain the best possible quality of life.
