UPDATE @12:10 PM - A line of thunderstorms is expected later this afternoon and evening. These thunderstorms may contain heavy rain, locally damaging wind gusts, & possibly a few tornadoes. See the second image for more detailed timing information. Stay weather aware & heed any warnings.

 


Leonardtown, MD - The Department of Emergency Services wants citizens to be prepared for potentially hazardous weather conditions, Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, throughout the day and into the evening. Potentially strong winds and heavy rains may cause significant inclement weather conditions.

As a strong cold front moves through the area this evening, scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts are possible. An isolated tornado is also possible.

Heavy rainfall may lead to scattered instances of flooding this evening.
Moderate tidal flooding will be possible during tonight`s high tide cycle along the Anne Arundel and Baltimore County coastline.

A Gale Warning is in effect for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay and Tidal Potomac River. In addition, numerous thunderstorms capable of producing strong winds are possible over the waters tonight.

A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect.

October 31, 2019 - latest severe weather updates from the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS)

Showers exiting the area this AM, but roads will remain wet. Showers and scattered thunderstorms returning this afternoon and evening, containing heavy rain, locally damaging wind gusts, and possibly a few tornadoes. Stay weather aware today and heed any warnings issued.


‪The majority of western/central Maryland, & parts of the eastern shore, are in the enhanced severe weather outlook zone. Primary threats: damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, & heavy rainfall. 

Remain vigilant, heed all warnings, & be sure to have a way to access local forecasts. MEMA will provide updates as they become available. Follow your regional NWS social media accounts for localized forecasts & keep your eyes to the sky.
