Lexington Park, MD – Democrat Susie Hance-Wells is vying for Calvert County’s Second Election District seat on the board of County Commissioners. She has been involved in agriculture her entire life and wants to see Calvert retain its rural character. With her involvement in the local Farm Bureau, the Calvert Board of Appeals and efforts to preserve farmland, Hance-Wells has contributed to the effort to make the county an example of how citizens can work to curb overdevelopment. “I’ve enjoyed helping with the planning of the future of Calvert County,” she said.

During a recent interview at the offices and studio of The BayNet.com, Hance-Wells acknowledged that while the Dunkirk Town Center does have issues with failing septic systems, finding the appropriate remedy should be left up to the town’s citizens during the revision of the town center master plan.

She also expressed concerns about public safety, transportation and plans to build a huge governmental center and parking garage at Armory Square in Prince Frederick. Such a project, said Hance-Wells, should be built in Old Town Prince Frederick.
