St. Mary’s County Public Schools participate in Maryland Food Bank’s kids kelping kids campaign

Maryland Food Bank’s Kids Helping Kids Food and Funds drive is underway. Friday, Oct. 14 marks the halfway point of the campaign aimed at getting Maryland students to raise food and funds for their hungry peers across the state. One in five Maryland children struggle with food insecurity. Kids Helping Kids teaches children about childhood hunger, engages them in giving, and shows them that they can play a role in making a difference in their community.

Last year, more than 400 Maryland schools took part in Kids Helping Kids raising over $100,000 for their local food banks. Of those 400 schools, Leonardtown High School located in Leonardtown finished second in monetary donations, raising $12,000 for the campaign.

There is still time to donate to the food and funds drive at any participating school in St. Mary’s County. Your help to feed someone in the community this season is greatly appreciated.
