There will be no salary increases during the 2011-2012 school year for Calvert County Public Schools’ top five administrators. During their Oct. 13 meeting, the Calvert County Board of Education (BOE) twice voted unanimously to accept recommendations to leave the annual salaries at their current levels.

The salary schedule as approved is: Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jack Smith, $169,000; Deputy Superintendent Robin Welsh, $152,500; Executive Director Deborah Pulley, $149,000; Executive Director Kim Roof, $147,500; and Chief Budget Officer Tammy McCourt, $136,000.

“I believe this is the third straight year these salaries have been frozen,” BOE President Bill Chambers stated.

Chambers submitted the recommendation to freeze Smith’s salary and Smith formally recommended the salaries of his four-person executive team remain at their current levels.

A former school superintendent himself, BOE Vice President Dr. Eugene Karol stated Smith is one of the lowest-paid school superintendents in Maryland.
