Suspended Speeding Teen with Pot - Attempts to Switch Seats

09/25/05 at 4:22 pm:  William James Cooper, 18, of Mechanicsville was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. 


Cooper was operating a vehicle that was detected on radar traveling at 65 mph in a 50 mph zone in Loveville. 

When TFC Trossbach attempted to stop the vehicle the driver pulled in to the MVA parking lot, jumped out of the vehicle and ran around to the passenger side.  The passenger switched to the driver's side. 


When asked why he did that Mr. Cooper advised that his license was suspended. A check through MVA revealed his license was indeed suspended. Cooper was placed under arrest. 
During a search incident to arrest a soda can containing suspected marijuana was located on the rear floorboard.
Cooper was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
