The Charles County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police recently joined forces to participate in the third annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail, a national warrant sweep operation that originated in Clackamas County, Ore.

Between midnight and 6 a.m. Oct. 12, the Sheriff's Office and the State Police attempted to serve 57 warrants in Charles, St. Mary's and Prince George's counties. Their efforts resulted in the service of 19 arrest warrants.

Pre-warrant operation investigations began several weeks prior to the sweep and during that time, warrant officers served 34 additional warrants and sent 11 detainers for people wanted in Charles County who were being held in detention centers in Virginia, North Carolina and Delaware.

The entire operation resulted in the service of 64 arrest warrants. Most of the warrants were for domestic violence violations, but the operation included criminal and child support warrants as well. Twenty Sheriff's Officers from the Judicial Services Section and the Tactical Response Squad participated in the sweep, along with five Maryland State Police troopers, four Charles County Correctional Officers and two police communications officers.
Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of a person who is wanted by the Charles County Sheriff's Office is asked to call 301-932-2222.
