The Charles County Sheriff's Office is warning the public and seeking information about a man who stole a wallet and other valuables from a secured locker inside Gold's Gym at 3317 Plaza Drive in Waldorf on October 12. Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information about the case.

Investigators determined the suspect, a male, entered the secured locker by unknown means sometime between 2:10 p.m. and 3 p.m. Oct. 12. The suspect stole the victim's wallet, including his Maryland driver's license, several credit cards and an undisclosed amount of cash, his slacks and the combination lock that was used to secure the locker. The suspect then fled the scene. There was no damage to the locker.

Witnesses said the suspect entered Gold's Gym and presented a Michigan driver's license issued to Jonathon Davis and was granted entry into the gym after paying the fee required for non-members to pay prior to each workout session. Detectives were unable to locate a Jonathon Davis in Michigan driver's license records.

Detectives have obtained a photograph of the suspect from surveillance equipment. The suspect is described as a black male with a light skin complexion who is about 6 feet tall, weighs about 250 pounds and has a medium build. He wore his hair in a bun and was wearing a navy blue jersey. The photograph can be viewed on the Sheriff's Office Web site,

The Sheriff's Office urges citizens to use caution when storing their valuables in gym lockers. When possible, leave valuables at home and carry with you only your driver's license and a small amount of cash. Those who choose to leave their valuables in their vehicles should ensure the valuables are out of plain view and that their vehicle doors are locked and windows are up. The Sheriff's Office also reminds businesses to check photo identification when customers present credit cards to pay for merchandise.
