On September 2nd Law Enforcement Officers responded to a residence in Mechanicsville for a reported home invasion.

Upon arrival of the police units information was obtained that two suspects forced entry into the residence by kicking open the front door.  Once inside of the residence, the two suspects assaulted a male juvenile victim. Detectives with the Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded to the scene and continued the investigation.

One of the Suspects was immediately identified and apprehended a short time later. That Suspect, a 16 year old female, was arrested and charged with Burglary, Assault Second Degree and Property Destruction.

The Second Suspect avoided apprehension. An arrest warrant was issued and on October 5th the second suspect, Michael Thomas Collins (age 19 of Mechanicsville), was located in Charles County.

Collins was taken into custody by BCI Detectives and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center to await a bond review. The open warrant charged Collins with Burglary, Assault Second Degree and Property Destruction.

The argument that spurred the attack was said by police to be related to a disagreement that occurred at school on September 2nd.
