3-Year-Old Located By Search Party; Death Currently Under Investigation

HOLLYWOOD, Md. -- Police are currently investigating the death of a 3-year-old female  in Hollywood earlier this morning.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on September 25, first responders were called to the 24000 block of Half Pone Point Road, for calls of a missing child. The call was placed by a neighbor saying that the neighbor's daughter was reported missing from their home.

Upon arrival, first responders from multiple departments across the county dispatched a search party to locate the missing girl, consisting of members of first responders, SMCSO, Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and Aviation Command.

After approximately one hour of looking, first responders located the child down the road, in the 25000 block of Half Pone Point Road, along the nearby body of water.

A helicopter that had been assisting with the search of the child landed nearby to potentially transport the victim, but would later terminate the transport.

CPR was initiated after making contact with the girl for 30 minutes, as protocol dictates. It was continued as the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where the 3-year-old was pronounced dead.

The death is currently under investigation by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide additional details as they become available.
