Pelosi Explains Hair Salon Visit

  • By

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's visit to a San Francisco hair salon has drawn a lot of criticism. Some have called Pelosi a hypocrite for having her hair styled while others aren't allowed into salons. But her office said it was all due to a misunderstanding of the rules.

Like other salons in San Francisco, eSalon is closed due to COVID restrictions. But the owner said one of her stylists unlocked the place to style Speaker Pelosi's hair.

The salon's owner, Erica Kious, was unhappy that despite the fact she's prohibited from opening up and making money, the speaker still felt it was okay to get her hair done. Kious released security footage from the salon that showed an unmasked Pelosi with wet hair to the media.

Pelosi's office acknowledged it was indeed her in the images. Her chief of staff, Drew Hammill said, "This business offered for the speaker to come in on Monday and told her they were allowed by the city to have one customer at a time in the business. The speaker complied with the rules as presented to her by this establishment. The speaker always wears a mask and complies with local COVID requirements,"

Currently, San Francisco hair salons can only operate outdoors. They are not allowed to wash or color hair.
