MD COVID Positivity Drops To Record Lows

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Maryland's COVID positivity had dropped to record lows. However, one SOMD County has a positivity rate significantly higher than the state average and double that of its neighbors.

Governor Larry Hogan announced some significant progress in the fight against COVID-19 on Stunday. 

The state's seven-day positivity rate for COVID tests dropped below 3% to 2.85%. The daily positivity rate dropped even lower, under 2% for the very first time.

Also down:

  • Hospitalizations - below 300
  • ICU Admission Levels - below 70

That's the lowest level for ICUs since March.

Charles County Rate Remains High

COVID positivity rates in Calvert and St. Mary's Counties are even lower than the state average.

Calvert - 2.14%

St. Mary's - 2.24%

However, Charles County positivity rates are significantly higher than the state average at 4.49%. That's the third-highest positivity rate in the state. Only Prince George's and Cecil Counties have higher numbers.

The positivity rates for Baltimore City (1.56%) and Baltimore County (2.31%) have also fallen to record lows.

The State of Maryland has now conducted a total of 2.39 million tests. State officials continue to encourage all Marylanders to get tested for COVID-19. Marylanders can plan to be tested at one of 210 testing sites by visiting
