Charles County, MD -- A clinic offered by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources aims to help women learn more about deer hunting.

It's all part of the BOW program. "Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" (BOW) offers outdoor skills workshops specifically for women 18 years of age and older, although men are welcome to join them.

BOW workshops enable women to learn about a wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities in a casual, non-threatening environment. New hunters are encouraged to participate.

The classes are designed to be as hands-on as possible, giving participants enough knowledge to further pursue their interests once the workshop is over.

The two-day Beyond Bow Deer Hunting Clinic will take place in Charles County November 1 and 2. The fee for the workshop is $60 and includes Includes registration, instruction, lunch on Friday, breakfast, lunch, and snacks on Saturday.

If you're interested in trying deer hunting for the first time or just freshening up or expanding your skills, this is the workshop for you!

Day One will cover basic biology, regulations, techniques, and time at the range.

Day Two will put your skills to the test while hunting.

Beyond BOW features workshops like a one-day fishing clinic, a backpacking experience, goose hunting on the eastern shore, From Field to Table (learning how to take wild game from harvest to the dinner table), and an outdoor survival skills weekend.

Each workshop offered is tailored to showcase the resources and opportunities available in that area, as well as offer a more intermediate hands-on experience.

The emphasis of BOW and Beyond BOW is on the enjoyment and camaraderie that goes along with outdoor recreation, whether hunting, fishing, hiking, or boating.
