Walk benefits the community's poor

Leonardtown, MD.—The weather was not ideal, but that didn’t keep participants from getting involved to help the less fortunate.

Sept. 12 marked the 8th Annual Friends of the Poor Walk, put on by St. Vincent de Paul. The crowd met at Father Andrew White S.J. School at 9 a.m. to sign up and say a prayer.

Event Co-Chairs Patty Belanger and Vicki White where all smiles when they saw so many participants willing to help other people in the area.

“We want the community to know that we are here. We are helping the people in the community, all the money that we raise for this event goes back to the community,” said Belanger.

“We want to thank the community volunteers for their time, commitment, and generosity in making this event a success, and making a difference in the lives of so many,” said Belanger.
