Leonardtown, MD -- The St. Mary's County Health Department has $1.6 million dollars in grant money that it wants to share with property owners.

The Health Department is seeking applicants for their Clear Water Program which assists homeowners with installation costs for nitrogen-reducing septic units and public sewer connection costs.

All homeowners in the county are eligible to apply. Grant awards will be made based on the availability of funds, the priority level of the project and the property owner’s total income.

Since 2010, the program has awarded over $10 million to St. Mary's County Homeowners. SMCHD’s Clear Water® Program received $1,641,000 in grant funding this year – the 2nd highest in the state of Maryland.
