Reynald (Rey) Alfred Bald

Reynald (Rey) Alfred Bald, 75 of California, MD died August 24, 2019 at Hospice House of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD with his loving family by his side.

He was born on November 1, 1943 to the late Arthur Bald and Laurette Tetreau in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Somersworth, NH.

He served in Vietnam on the USS St. Francis River (LSMR 525) and on the USS Tattnall (DDG 19) and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy on June 30, 1976.  During his dedicated service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (2), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross) Robbon Bar). Rey moved to St. Mary’s County in 1978 and worked for the Department of Defense as a civil servant until retirement in 1998.  After “retiring,” Rey became the Executive Vice President of Imagine One Technology and Management, Ltd, where he enjoyed his role in marketing and engineering development.  He valued the many friendships he made along the way.

He married his beloved wife, Marcia Daidy, on June 10, 1967 in Washington, D.C.  They started a family and celebrated over 52 wonderful years of love and marriage.  He is survived by his wife, Marcia, and three wonderful children: Renee Kennedy (Richard) of Bonn, Germany; Andre Bald (Alfa) of Singapore, Asia; and Michael Bald of California, MD.  He has three beloved grandchildren: Raina, Avery, and Alila.  Rey has three sisters: Aurelie Bald, Adrienne Keicher, Doreen Peterson and a brother, Frank Bald. In addition to his parents, Rey is also preceded in death by his sister, Charlyne Allard.

Rey enjoyed his time outdoors with his family and friends fishing and crabbing.  He coached Special Olympics basketball for many years.  He loved to play golf and poker - and was better at the latter than the former. Marcia and Rey enjoyed traveling the world together and spending quality time with their family and friends.
