Man killed standing in the road

Clinton, MD --  A Prince George's County man was killed after being hit by a tractor-trailer. 

Police say it happened around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday at northbound Branch Avenue (Route 5) south of Surratts Road.

Thomas Talley, 34, of Virginia, was driving a tractor-trailer in lane 3. Lincoln Carroll, 58,  of Fort Washington, was lying in the road and suddenly stood up in front of Talley's vehicle and was hit by the truck.

Prince George’s County Fire and EMS personnel pronounced him dead on the scene.

Talley immediately stopped and remained on the scene. No charges against the driver are expected and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Since a commercial vehicle was involved the Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED) conducted a safety inspection of the tractor trailer. A collision resonstructionist from the Maryland State Police also responded to the scene.
