Great Mills, MD --  A Navy veteran is able to breathe a bit easier after volunteers made some much-needed repairs to her home.

Navy Veteran Pamela Kunieki lives in Great Mills with her husband. She has breathing issues that require her to use oxygen. The older carpet in her home needed to be replaced and the duct work cleaned in order to make it easier for her to breathe.

Patuxent Habitat for Humanity teamed up with a two local businesses to make those changes in just two and a half days.

Patuxent Habitat for Humanity Veterans Critical Repair Program volunteers, lead by Bonnie Morris, along with volunteers from Christmas In April, Calvert County, Exelon and Patuxent River Naval Air Station went to work repairing the home.

Quality Transfer and Storage donated the use of a storage pod to store the couple's belongings while volunteers prepped and removed all the furniture, all the carpet, and padding.

Volunteers then replaced some of the sub-floor and then laid vinyl plank flooring.

Certified Carpet & Air Duct Company came out the next day to clean all duct work and treat the home with a Microban solution to help with any other contaminants in the air.
