Marbury, MD –  The Mattawoman Creek Art Center will host the opening reception of a next exhibit: “Chasing the Light; An Engineer’s Foray Into Photography” on Sunday, August 18. The reception begins at 1 p.m.

Visitors can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks, view the art, and chat with the artist. Admission to the park and the gallery is always free.

Artist Victor Foulk has a background in systems engineering and had worked in rocket propulsion and nuclear propulsion programs. He took up photography as a means to add balance to a life that required a lot of left-brain thinking.

Desert landscapes are among the Mojave Desert native’s favorite subjects. According to Foulk, “each setting or rising sun a hopeful tribute to the splendor of the natural world we have been gifted with.”

The exhibit will be on display August 16 – September 15. The Mattawoman Creek Art Center is located at 5565 Upham Place in  Marbury.

The gallery is open 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Admission is free.
