Armed robber sentenced to 13 years

Baltimore, MD -- Leroy Percell Burrell, age 32, of Washington, D.C. was sentenced to 162 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised released after entering a guilty plea for three armed robberies.

Between July and November of 2017, Burrell  was responsible for three armed robberies of businesses using a firearm. All of the robberies were caught on surveillance video.

On July 30, 2017, Burrell robbed a business Greenbelt, threatening an employee with a gun and forcing the employee to empty the safe and cash register. 

On August 10, 2017, Burrell and another man robbed a business in Anne Arundel County, this time pointing a gun to the head of an employee.

On November 3, 2017, Burrell robbed the same business he'd held up back in July. Once again, he held employees at gunpoint and, this time, handcuffed one of them.

When law enforcement searched Burrell's residence on November 9, 2017, officers recovered a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol, two pairs of handcuffs,and various ammunition rounds.  Burrell had previously been convicted of a felony and was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

In addtition to the prison sentence, U.S. District Judge George J. Hazel also entered an order requiring Burrell to pay restitution of $2,680.
