Reisterstown, MD -- The Maryland State Police welcomed 39 new members with the graduation of the 149th Trooper Candidate Academy Class on July 3.

Candidates underwent 25 weeks of rigorous training in a residential police academy. The class included eight military veterans. The class president is following both of his parents’ footsteps into the Maryland State Police.

After graduation, each trooper will complete eight weeks of additional field training with an experienced trooper before they are able to patrol alone.
