On Wednesday St. Mary’s County Public Schools opened their doors for a new school year. There to greet the new and returning students were not only teachers and friends, but also many local politicians.

At Ridge Elementary, State Delegate John Bohanan (D) and County Commissioner Dan Raley (D) were on hand to talk with the children, faculty and parents.

Behind the scenes many of the teachers had already returned to their classrooms to decorate and prepare for the opening day, and Principal Mrs. Kerner had been busy sorting through late registrations, which had been interrupted by a power-cut in Ridge and St. Inigoes the day before.
