The 2006 Maryland Chief’s Challenge – A Lifesaving Campaign provides law enforcement personnel the opportunity to make every effort to increase their awareness of safety belt and child safety seat violations.  In order to raise awareness for the campaign, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office once again held a “Chief’s Challenge Coloring Contest.”

Many children participated and the final selection of the winners was very difficult. With great pleasure Sheriff David D. Zylak awarded the winners with a certificate of appreciation and a gift bag prepared by the St. Mary’s County Highway Safety Team. The winners included: 1 – 3 year olds:  Hunter Simonds; 4 year olds:  Joshua Kelly; 5 year olds: Shelby Sullivan; 6 year olds: Trinity Alexander; 7 year olds:  Matthew Harms; 8 year olds:  Eric Thomas; 9 year olds:  Jacob Ucekay; and 10 – 13 year olds:  Molly Stine.
