Alcohol-Related Crashes Kill Two This Weekend

At 3:05 a.m. Aug. 6, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to St. Charles Parkway and St. Ignatius Drive in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash.

Investigation revealed a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo operated by Guy Jamison Hall, 35, of Capital Heights was driving south on St. Charles Parkway when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver over-corrected, causing the SUV to run off the left side of the road, travel down an embankment and strike a tree.

Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Darryl Dimitric Freeman, 33, of Temple Hills was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Alcohol, speed and driver error appear to be factors in the crash. Officer R. Taylor of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.

Passenger Killed

At 2:48 a.m. Aug. 5, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 12300 block of Billingsley Road in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash.

Investigation revealed a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe operated by George Wozniak, III, 24, of Mechanicsville was traveling east on Billingsley Road when the SUV left the right side of the roadway, traveled down an embankment and overturned.

Wozniak sustained incapacitating injuries and was transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center.

His passenger, Hubert Calvin Long, Jr., 22, of Waldorf, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

He was transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center where he later died.

Alcohol and driver error appear to be factors in the crash. Speed does not appear to be a factor. Cpl. S. Burrows of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
