Driver Flown Out After Motor Vehicle Crash in Leonardtown Shopping Center

LEONARDTOWN, Md. - On July 29, 2020, at approximately 1:08 p.m., fire and rescue personnel responded to single-vehicle overturned in a wooded area on Merchants Lane by Ace Hardware store. The driver was reported speeding through the parking lot at high speed prior to crashing.

Units from Leonardtown and Hollywood along with the medic unit arrived to find one person trapped. Squad 1 and the Medic were next to arrive and began vehicle stabilization as well as patient assessment, it was determined the patient would need to be flown out by MEDEVAC MSP Trooper 7.

The crew of the Squad, Engine and Truck were able to extricate the single patient in about ten minutes.

Squad 7’s crew assisted with clearing a path to the vehicle to get the patient to the stretcher. Engine 11 then handled the Landing Zone for Trooper 7. The female patient was flown to an area trauma center with unknown severity of injuries.
