Volunteers needed for Backpack Fest 2019

Annapolis, MD --  Volunteers are needed to help kids get ready for back-to-school. 

The Community Backpack Fest celebrates back-to-school by offering fun family activities and each child also receives a backpack stocked with school supplies

Kids can learn about fire safety, setting goals and meeting goals, healthy eating, the environment, how to get a library card, and the basics of walking and biking to school safely. 

There will also be fun activities like climbing on a real fire truck, a moon bounce, face painting, and food. 

The event will be held Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at Eastport United Methodist Church in Annapolis.  Volunteers need to arrive at 8:30am to help set up.

Community Backpack Fest 2019 is sponsored by John Wesley, Mt. Zion, and Eastport United Methodist Churches.

Community Partners include Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis Fire Department, Annapolis Police Community Service Officers, AA Co Public Library, AA Co Public Schools, Charting Careers, Eastport Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Marshalls, NAACP, Office of Emergency Preparedness, Seeds 4 Success, and the office of Senator Sarah Elfreth.
