Clavert County, MD - The United Way of Calvert County wants to thank the community for their generous support of those affected by the April Chesapeake Beach fires.

The organization is no longer accepting donations on behalf of those families impacted by the fire. Since April, the organization has received over $85,000 in donations from individuals, schools, churches, organizations, and businesses to aid the 9 families displaced by the fire. The families also received over $20,000 in gift cards.

The April 3 fire at Courtyards At Fishing Creek destroyed multiple homes and displaced nine families.

In addition to generous members of the community, The Board of Directors for The United Way of Calvert County expressly thanked the first, second and third responders who contributed to the ongoing support of these families who lost so much.

The United Way did not accept any administrative fees for the services rendered to the fire victims. While donations for Chesapeake Beach fire victims are no longer needed, the organization will continue to accept donations for annual grants to local nonprofits that support the basic needs of vulnerable residents all year long.
