Back to School Shop with a Cop

The Calvert Optimist Club and FOP Lodge 109 in cooperation with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Department, are pleased to announce the Back to School Shop with a Cop event.

Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputies will trade in their squad cars for shopping carts at this year’s Annual Shop with a Cop event. From notebooks to new outfits, officers team up with kiddos in need to get them back-to-school ready.

In an effort to help these students start the school year on a positive note, the Optimist Club of Calvert County and FOP Lodge 109 help sponsor the Back to School Shop with a Cop program. Each year, children are selected to do their back to school shopping with a law enforcement officer. This year, the program will take place on Saturday, August 17th, 2019.

Members of the media are welcome to attend.  The police officers and kids will meet at the Lord Calvert Bowling Alley in Huntingtown, MD around 8:30-9 a.m., with a couple games of bowling and breakfast. After bowling, deputies and the children will proceed in a convoy to Peebles Department Store followed by a stop at Olympia Sports both in Prince Frederick, MD, where the kids will shop for back to school clothing and shoes. This event will conclude with a free movie at Flagship Cinemas, the movie theater in Prince Frederick, MD.

Sheriff Mike Evans and the men and women of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office sincerely thank all who continue to make this event a success.
