Bands perform for ‘Cause’

Solomons, MD  - A benefit concert was held in Solomons, Sunday 26 for the purpose of aiding a local family in a financial bind, a dilemma that came about when a motor vehicle driver was texting.

“Carolyn’s Cause” was the event and the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department was the venue. According to Preston Pratt, the concert’s organizer, the daylong showcase of four area bands was conceived three weeks ago as a way to aid the Lee family of Lusby.

Carolyn Lee sustained serious injuries several months ago in a motor vehicle collision. She was a passenger in a vehicle which collided with another vehicle whose operator was texting at the time. In addition to raising funds to help the Lee family, the event organizers hoped to raise awareness about the dangers of texting while driving.

Pratt told The BayNet that all of the services, including the talented musicians, were donated. The day’s lineup was Stickey Wicket, Justin Crenshaw, Mike Mead and Wesley Spangler.

Food and drink was provided by Heavenly Chicken and Ribs. A raffle held during the show was donated by Sacchetti Music.

Carolyn’s husband Chris expressed gratitude to the community for its support. He said Carolyn’s Cause and Calvert Cares will be collaborating in the future to help other individuals in need.
