One-of-a-kind country festival to premier in Southern Maryland

As summer comes to a close, country lovers from around the area will gather at the St. Mary’s Country Fairgrounds in Leonardtown for the Country Life Outdoors Festival. Presented by Winegardner Auto Group, the festival will run from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 22 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24.

The Country Life Outdoors Festival, which is organized by the same group behind the popular BuckWild Outdoors Expo and Maryland DogFest, is the premier destination for adults and children who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors and good old fashioned family fun. This Three-day event celebrates hunting, fishing, farming, boating, art, music and more. Experience this one-of-a-kind event featuring exciting entertainment, contests, exhibitors, seminars, displays, hands on fun and an atmosphere of "Everything Country."

In addition to the wide variety of exhibitors displaying everything country, attendees can enjoy the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show where four world-class Lumberjacks are put to the test through an epic battle of skills. For more thrills, visitors are invited to watch or even enter their dog into the Ultimate Air Dogs Competition.  All sizes and breeds are encouraged to enter and jump through the air into a 40 foot-long pool, as long as they can swim! Even if they aren’t competing, all leashed dogs are welcome to attend the Country Life Outdoors Festival.

Visitors can also take a moment to relax and refresh with a glass of wine or a brew while listening to live music. The festival will offer wine tasting and over 24 varieties of domestic and craft beer will be on tap all weekend long. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet local brewmasters and experience a variety of live music including down-home Southern Rock, Country, Bluegrass, and Rockabilly.

The event will also host several competitions including: a duck and goose calling Competition, a chicken wing and watermelon eating contest, and a cornhole tournament. Guests are invited to bring their trophy deer mounts to have them officially scored for the Maryland state record book and entered into the Trophy Deer Contest.

The festival will also include a free Kids Zone, equipped with a moon bounce, a rock wall and plenty of other fun games and activities for the little ones.

Other events and activities include: retrieving dog demos, chainsaw carving, aerial archery targets, and numerous food vendors.

Tickets for the Country Life Outdoors Festival can be purchased at the front gate on each day of the event. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Children under the age of 5 and dogs enter for free! Tickets are valid for a single day of admission only.
