Hollywood VFD carnival hosts individuals with disabilities

St. Mary’s County’s volunteer fire departments and rescue squads are the beneficiaries of ongoing support from the community. In addition to their volunteer service, the members also like to show their appreciation by giving back to the community. The Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department does that every year with its successful fireworks display and annual carnival.

This year on the afternoon of July 11 the fire department opened their carnival to the members of the Center for Life Enrichment in Hollywood, whose mission is “to provide programs and support services that will increase the vocational and personal potential of individuals with disabilities."

The participants were treated to carnival rides, hot dogs, snow cones, and ice cream.

This is the second year that the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department has hosted the event.

The community is reminded that the carnival is open to everyone this weekend (Thursday, July 17 through Monday, July 21).  The carnival runs from 7-11 p.m. each day.
