On June 11, 2010 DFC D. Deakins of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 6401 Southern Maryland Blvd, the site of the Old Sunderland Post Office, regarding an illegal dumping complaint.
Upon his arrival he observed a large pile of litter illegally dumped there. Following an investigation by D/Sgt. M. Moore, it was learned that the litter had been dumped there at the direction of Curtis Litten, previous owner of the property. Litten, 47 of Huntingtown, had been cited for several zoning violations during the time he owned the property and was also found guilty in October 2009 of criminal charges including attempted Second-Degree Assault and Harassment on several Calvert County Commissioners. Moore applied for an arrest warrant charging Litten with illegal littering/dumping.
Litten was arrested on this warrant on July 25 at 4:50 p.m. and incarcerated at the Calvert Detention Center.
